  • This is a statue of the founder of Buddhism, Siddhartha Gautama, also known as Buddha.
  • This is the belief of reincarnation, being reborn through many lives, until one reaches nirvana.
  • This is Buddha after reaching the state of nirvana, which means blown out like a candle, or empty minded. He reached this state through meditation. Lots and lots of meditation.
  • Buddhism has many beliefs, but there are several main ones.
  • The Tripitaka or Three Baskets is the sacred text of Buddhism. It was memorized and passed down orally for many, many years until it was finally written down.
  • Reincarnation is being reborn through many lives, Buddha was reborn many times until he reached enlightenment.
  • Meditation is a major belief and practice of Buddhism. In order to reach nirvana, Buddha meditated under a fig tree for 49 days.
  • Nirvana is the state of having an empty mind, literally; blown out like a candle. Buddha reached enlightenment through meditation. 49 days of meditation to be exact.
