  • The suagr act was put in place so sugar and molasses wern't being smuggled into America. The taxes went up on sugar and duties were enforced. New England was not happy about the stamp act beacuse they needed sugar and molasses to make rum and to trade with other countries. The sugar act was enforced by prime Minister George Grenvillie.

  • The stamp act was enforced by the british goverment. The stamp act required all colonists to pay tax on newpapers, cards, dice, documents and etc. The colonist started to protest due them having no say so in this act. The stamp act was passed by the house of lords. The stamp act really hurt businesses due to people refusing to buy taxed goods.

  • The townshed act was put in place by the British Parliament in 1767. The act was put into place so that American colonies imported goods were taxed. The American thought the act was unfair due to them having no vote or a say so. Riots started to break out with the phrase No taxtation without representation. The items that were included were lead, paper, paint, tea and glass.
  • Intolerable acts
  • The Boston Masacre took place March 1770. The britsish soilders soilders shot into the raging crowd and killed 5 colonists. The soldiers only shot at them to keep them from throwing more things at them. Two soilders were found guilty for manslaughter. The colonists were still mad about the Quartring act and therefore started to take there anger out on the british soldiers.
  • The Boston tea party was a protest due to the tea being taxed. The sons of liberty dumps 42 tons of tea into the sea as a way of protesting . In results the british had to shut down Boston Harbor until all the 340 chest were paid for. The total amount of tea that was thrown in the sea was around 1 million. This took place on december 16 1773. It rallied American patriots across 13 colonies to fight for independence.
  • The Intolerable Acts were created as punishment to the colonists for the Boston Tea Party. The ports were closed until the colonists paid for the tea that was destroyed. The positions in government were placed under the British control. The Royal government were able to have trials of royal officials elsewhere if the king decided a fair trial was not going to happen in Massachusetts. The soldiers were allowed to in unoccupied buildings.
