- White schools were better than African American schools. Schools with white people had better education, technology, and materials to learn with. African American schools were treated badly and not fair. The Supreme Court ruled that separating the children in public schools on the color of their skin was uncalled for.
- Freedom Riders(1961)
- The Montgomery Bus Boycott was a civil rights protest, where African Americans refused to ride the buses in Montgomery due to the segregated seating.
- March on Washington(1963)
- Little Rock Nine was a group of African American high-school students that public schools about their racial segregation in Little Rock, Arkansas. The students faced a lot during this such as, abuse, harassment, etc. They became the center of attention to other public schools around the U.S.
- Civil Rights Act of 1964(1968)
- Civil Rights Act of 1964
- The Freedom Riders took bus trips to protest segregated buses. This was a group of white and African American civil rights activists.
- The March on Washington was led by Martin Luther King, this was where he told his speech, "I Have A Dream". This took place on August 28th, 1963. This march was to advocate economic and civil rights for the African American community.
- The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. It also ended segregation in public places and banned employment discrimination.
