- Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehem in Judaea. His mother was Mary and according to the Bible, his father was not her husband Joseph, but God. Christians say that Jesus was not just a man but also the Son of God.Stories are told about Jesus’ birth. He was born in a stable and visited by wise men and shepherds.
- His early life was spent in the town of Nazareth in Galilee. He was a Jew and at the age of twelve his parents took him to Jerusalem for the feast of the Passover.

- When he was about thirty, Jesus was baptised in the River Jordan by his cousin John the Baptist.
- For three years Jesus travelled in the area around the Sea of Galilee preaching and healing people by miracles. His closest followers were the twelve disciples. At the end of this time Jesus went to Jerusalem with the disciples.
- Some of the people there were angry because they said that he claimed to be the Messiah, the Son of God. Jesus had a special meal with his disciples to celebrate the Passover, this was known as the Last Supper During the meal Jesus broke bread and wine as a symbol of his body and blood. Jesus was betrayed by one of the disciples, Judas Iscariot, and was arrested while praying in the Garden of Gethsemane. He was tried by the high priest and Pontius Pilate, the Roman Governor, and sentenced to death.
- On Good Friday Jesus was crucified and buried. On the third day, he rose from the dead and spent forty days with the disciples before ascending into heaven.
