- Nancy Reid died of health complications due to a cancer she developed

- So, children who live in close proximity to fracking sites are 3-4 times more likely to develop childhood leukemia. But, to understand why we must learn what fracking does.

- Fracking
- We are injecting water, sand, and other chemicals into the rock at a high pressure. This fractures the rock and releases the trapped oil or gas.
- Oh No! Fracking took place directly next to Nancy Reids hometown. Since the process uses such a large amount of water it contaminated the local groundwater and drinking water. Using this amount of water releases toxic chemicals into surrounding wells. These wells can consume 1.5 million gallons of water!
- I wonder how we stop this from happening to other families
- So you are saying the environment around our home and the homes of others is creating health concerns for us?
- Yes exactly, over 1.4 million people live within a mile radius of fracking wells! We found carcinogens such as heavy metals, radionuclides, benzene, and hydrocarbons in the water around your location and in her system.
