- Hello, y'all, My name is Hugo Mark, and I'm currently tasked with finding out what cultures I hail from. Right off the bat I knew the general information as I'm half Swedish, and then if you trace my dad's side back we end up in Poland and Ukraine.
- My Mom was who I spoke to to get a greater understanding of my Swedish Culture, She immigrated to the States in her 20s to study here, coming from the small city of Umeå in Northern Sweden. (Every Year my family travels to Umeå and Stockholm to visit Sweden and her family)
- My Grandfather was the person I interviewed for this assignment, His father immigrated from Poland and came through Ellis Island. He also gave me insight into my Grandmother's culture as they came from Ukraine.
- Wow that's such a great mindset as a first generation Immigrant, regardless of what descent you are originally from. This now makes so much sense why you always would put up traditional Swedish decorations during holidays!
- While not the most accurate depiction of my hometown, but let's just go with it. I wanted to make sure my kids were proud of their Swedish Heritage as its something that I'm proud about. My family also comes from the Sami people who are the native tribes of Sweden
- As for my family, we've never really paid too much attention to our culture as both me and my father were dedicated workers. Instead we've focused on how we can best prepare our own kids to have an outstanding character, and a strong moral compass.
- As for the impact of my parent's cultures in my life, me being Swedish is way more prominent than any other, yet at the same time my grandfather, and dad gave me life lessons, and morals that are just as important as any culture.
