  • Biosphere
  • Hello Class! Today we have a very special guest that is going to teach us all about the Biosphere!
  • Biosphere
  • Hello everyone! I'm going to give you all a paper that will help you follow along. I want you to first read the word "Biosphere"
  • Biome
  • I lived during the Ice Age in North America. There weren't many plants in my biome since it was so cold but I did live with other animal and marine species.
  • Biodiversity is very important because it Provides our food, Makes oxygen, Cleans our water, Controls diseases, Gives us medicine, Recycles dead stuff, and Makes us happy. We can all take actions such as reducing, reusing, and recycling to protect biodiversity and the biosphere.
  • Biodiveristy
  • Biosphere-the regions of the surface, atmosphere, and hydrosphere of the earth that is occupied by living organisms.
  • Invasive Species
  • Biome-a large naturally occurring community of organisms occupying a major habitat
  • Population Growth and Carrying Capacity
  • Biodiversity- the variety of life in the world or in a particular habitat or ecosystem.
  • Limiting Factors
  • Invasive Species-plants, animals, or other organisms that are introduced to a given area outside their original range and cause harm in their new home.
  • Some species around me were affected by invasive species. They came in and took important resources away. The level of these available declined.
  • Population Growth- Population growth is the increase in the number of individuals in a population.Carrying Capacity-the amount of organisms that a habitat can healthily support.
  • As a population grows, it gets closer to reaching it's carrying capacity. We don't want to go over that capacity because food and other resources could become scarce. Members among the species will also start to fight for dominance.
  • Limiting Factors-anything that constrains a population's size and slows or stops it from growing
  • There can be biotic, such as prey, and abiotic, such as water and the heat from the sun, limiting factors. These can affect how well a species is able to survive. Every living organisms needs certain resources to stay healthy and alive.
