Jack creates spears for the Hunters to go out on the hunt for food being the pigs that they had spotted on the island not too far back. He tries to catch a pig but fails which leaves him irritated.
When Jack came back Ralph was trying to build some sort of shelter for the boys. No one seemed to be helping but Simon. Ralph gets frustrated about this since they make all these plans during their meeting but never follow through.
Ralph discusses with Jack on how the Hunters have not successfully captured any pig and keep using their job as an excuse to do any work. Their conversation goes no where as all Jack can think of is hunting and killing.
After theyre argument they do try to work things out by going on a little swim in the lagoon. Hoping to regain their feelings of camaraderie, their feelings of hostility towards each other still remain.
Meanwhile Simon is wandering the jungle on his own and we start to see the world through his point of view. He helps some younger boys get fruit which the older boys have started to call "Littleluns".
