- Sara and her father, a rich businessman lived in India,
- They traveled by ship at the beginning of the war
- and he had to leave her in a boarding school in New York and for her it was not so good to be there
- The father fought in the war but was blinded for a while and a kind gentleman and his assistant nursed him back to health in the house next to the school.
- The assistant helped Sara and her friend with her magic because they were in the attic without eating
- After a while the father recovered and recognized his daughter and adopted her friend.
