- Thomas Jefferson won the election against John Adams.
- Your new president is... Thomas Jefferson!
- Before leaving office, John Adams appointed federalist judges.
- You all are going to become judges for the District of Columbia Court.
- If you keep hiding our commissions I shall sue you Madison!
- Thomas Jefferson told his secretary of state, James Madison, to hide the commissions from the judges.
- Not so fast... The supreme court doesn't have the power to force Madison to give Marbury's commission.
- John Marshall makes a decision for the Marbury vs. Madison case
