- The Socs find Johnny and Ponyboy
- "Hey, whatta ya know?" "Here's the little greasers that picked up our girls. Hey, greasers" (55).
- Johnny kills Bob
- "I killed him.""I killed that boy" (56).
- Going to find Dally
- "Dally'll get us outa here" (58).
- Ponyboy and Johnny ran away, then they decided that it was a bad idea. They walked to the park to cool off, before they went home. Then they noticed a blue mustang circling the park. Five socs got out of the car and surrounded Johnny and Ponyboy. Bob said something that outraged Ponyboy, so Ponyboy argued back. After Ponyboy said that Bob said, " You could use a bath, greaser" (55).
- The socs were drowning Ponyboy, and they were about to beat up Johnny again. Before the socs could, Johnny stabbed Bob. The rest of the socs ran away. Ponyboy woke up on the pavement coughing up water.
- Ponyboy and Johnny started freaking out. The story would get out soon, they had to think of an idea quickly. They thought that if anyone could get them out of this mess, it would be Dally. Johnny wanted money, a gun, and a plan.
