Storyboard Text

  • Hello! My name is Zoe the Zebra. I will be helping you understand Darwin's Theory of Evolution by natural selection of the zebra.
  • Overpopulation: Zebras Zebras everywhere! More zebras are being produced than the environment can handle.
  • Variation: Zebras show variation in their appearance. Some can be black and white, some can have lighter or darker stripes and some can even be all black or all white!
  • Hello friends! You guys are looking marvelous. We are different but alike!
  • Adaptation: Zebras adapt to their environment in order to survive. Zebras have long, strong legs for running, strong teeth for breaking down tough grass and stems. Zebras also utilize their stripes to camouflage themselves from predators, like lions.
  • Natural Selection: The zebra stripes acted as a form of camouflage against predators such as lions. Lions are colorblind so its harder for them to see zebras; making it easier to survive.
  • I know you're here! I'm going to get you **Looks around but sees nothing**
  • There are 3 species of zebras (Grevy's Zebra, Plains Zebra, and the Mountain Zebra) in the world. However, over thousands of years, genetic mutations that alter the production of melanin is creating rare spotted and oddly striped zebras.
  • Hey, who is the new kid with the fancy spots and strips? Where did he come from?
