  • Before there was land or sea, people or gods, nothing existed, except Chaos. There was no sun, moon, mountains, rivers, or an earth at all. It was just vast emptiness.Eventually, Chaos divided itself into the earth, the sky, and the sea. When the earth was created, so was a goddess named Gaia.Gaia loved taking care of earth, but she got lonely. She became pregnant so she could have company.
  • Her child was named Uranus and he ruled the sky. They were equals in every way, and soon they had children together. The first three children were monsters called Hundred Handed Ones, Uranus was afraid that theses children would over throw him, so he forced the, back into Gaia's womb.Gaia gave birth to more monstrous children. They were called Cyclopes. Unfortunately, Uranus was afraid of them too. He eventually threw them into a deep cavern called Tartarus.
  • Saddened by the loss of her children and angry at the cruel Uranus, Gaia gave birth to a third group of children. They were called the Titans. There were twelve of them, six goddesses and six gods. These children were not monsters at all, but Uranus was still afraid they would overthrow him. So, he pushed the Titans into Gaia womb as well.Gaia was so enraged that she came up with a plan that would allow her children to forever live freely in the world. She spoke to her children through her womb and convinced them to help her get rid of Uranus.
