- Ben, an eighth grader, got news about an upcoming party that was happening on Saturday. Ben was excited for this party, for he had never been to one.
- On Saturday, at 5:00 PM (2 hours away from party), Ben was told through social media that there was going to be weed (marijuana) and beer. He had learned about the effects of drugs and alcohol before, like how they can cause addiction and health problems, so he wasn't planning to use any of that.
- You ever have any alcohol before? It makes you feel relaxed!
- At the front door, Ben gets handed a bottle of beer from Alec. He sees that his crush, Alissa, which at the time was his friend. just got down from the stairs and is looking at him. He decides to chug the whole thing in only a few seconds (to impress Alissa). He gagged and thought it tasted disgusting. The alcohol would later have a great effect on Ben due to it being his first time drinking and he had no alcohol tolerance.
- Now being drunk, since around 10 minutes has passed, Ben decides to ask Alissa if she wants to hang out after the party (with slurred speech) while in the living room. Elisa could tell that he was drunk because of the stench of his breath, his stumbling and his slurred and stuttered speech. Elisa says no.
- Due to alcohol intensifying anger, Ben was furious. He yelled at Alissa and yelled nonsense, like she was avoiding him. Alissa was frightened and ran out. while Ben goes upstairs with his friend group.
- Since Ben was drunk, he forgot/ignored the effects of weed and decided to smoke with his friend, John. He felt the effects in only three minutes.
