  • Ouch! I burnt my finger because of the hot stove!!!
  • You feel the pain because of your nervous system.
  • What's the Nervous System?
  • The Nervous System is a system of nerves broken down into two parts
  • What are the two parts ?
  • The Central Nervous System made of Brain and Spinal cord.
  • The Peripheral Nervous System is made up of nerves that are spread to all parts of body connected to spinal cord.
  •
  • So, what exactly does the Nervous System do?
  • It sends nervous impulses from neuron to neuron throughout your body , which helps your body to generate reactions.
  • For Example, when u feel pain, your body reacts to sensory receptors in your skin which sends message to brain via spinal cord where sensation of pain is registered, the information is processed and pain is perceived.
  • How do reflexes happen?
  • Reflexes happen quickly and that is because impulse activates spinal motor neurons. Most neurons don't have to travel up to your brain to be processed which is why the reactions take place quickly.
  • I get it now! Thank you Keerti to make me understand all of this.
  • You are most welcome Akash! Now let's put some ice on your burnt finger.
