- Dang! It feels like every summer just keeps on getting warmer and warmer. What is going on?
- I know right! It's all ties back to the industrial revolution and how it led to a dramatic increase in carbon emissions by human activities.
- What do CO2 emissions have to do with the weather, though?
- Well, the earth can naturally warm itself by reflecting sun rays through greenhouse gases in its atmosphere, one of these being CO2. When these gases are in excess, however, it leads to something known as an enhanced greenhouse effect, which is the cause of climate change and the temperature changes being reported all over the world.
- Is that also the reason why so many of our ecosystems have been affected in recent years?
- Absolutely! Ecosystems are necessary for our survival, which is why it's so important to endorse climate change action plans and try live in ecofriendly ways. Owning electric vehicles, for instance, is one way in which we can decrease our carbon emissions.
