- “Aaron Landau,” one of the Brownshirts said to Josef’s father, “you have continued topractice law despite the fact that Jews are forbidden to do so under the Civil Service RestorationAct of 1933. For this crime against the German people, you will be taken into protectivecustody.”
- Josef house was runned by Hitler's stormtroopers and took Josef Father, Aaron Landau because he was practicing law and he is jewish
- Josef father comes back but he is paronoid, scared and they meet after 6 months and see each other on the St Louis.
- Josef Father jumps off because he couldnt take the nazis and his ptsd so he tries to commit suicide.
- France was overtaken by Hitler and the nazis so Josef and his family were on the run again
- I think there is only enough here to buy freedom for one of your children. You choose one.

- I chose these three scenes because they are a good and important part of the story. The first scene I picked was the beginning because every story begining is important because if it doesnt happen things might not happen later like Josef father Aaron jumped off the boat because he has ptsd. I chose the climax when Aaron jumped off and had to go to Cuba because that would scar Josef and his family. I chose the ending because it was how Josef story ends and how his sister Ruthie lives and meets Mahmouds family.
