  • Removing someone's heart due to human sacrifice.
  • Nobles and Elite Warriors
  • We live in the central areas of the Mayan cities as we are the Nobles.
  • I got you now!!!
  • The kings wore magnificent headdresses and animal skin capes with intricate feather embroidery, generally jaguar. A Maya king was considered to be a formidable military commander. He would frequently conduct raids on enemy city-states. The Maya monarchs often sacrificed themselves to the gods. The rulers were also supposed to be able to manage problems that the city might face, like as wars and food shortages.
  • Merchants
  • Can we have that for these cacao seeds?
  • Trade is accepted!!!!
  • Priests were born into their position, and they wielded nearly as much power as the king. Priests of the Maya were the keepers of knowledge. They studied and passed on their knowledge of reading and writing. Priests were responsible for a variety of tasks, including executing religious rites, training aristocratic sons, keeping calendars, researching astronomy and astrology, divining for the monarch, nobles, and commoners, and prophecy.
  • Commoners
  • I just got some chill peppers.
  • The Maya noble class was far smaller than any other, yet they were significantly wealthier and more powerful. They served in the priesthood or rose through the ranks to become government officials, court officers, town rulers, scribes, tribute collectors, military leaders, and administrators. The warriors wore animal-skin capes as well, but their bodies were painted red and black.
  • Slaves
  • Ok, I will have to begin on building a temple!
  • In everyday life, they ruled over politics, religion, and the economy. Cacao beans were exchanged throughout Mesoamerica, not just among the Maya, but also among the Olmec, Zapotec, and Aztec peoples. Raw commodities such as jade, copper, gold, granite, marble, limestone, and wood were also traded by merchants.
  • The commoners were farmers.
  • This was the case for the vast majority of Mayans. They were largely farmers and artisans. Their rulers had to be paid with linen, food, and salt. Moreover, the lower classes were required to assist in the construction of temples and mansions for the nobles.
