- *Opening scene* A group of college students gathered at the table on the school campus, looking sad and stressed.
- *sighs*Look, y’all, I don’t think I would be able to pay for this month’s rent expense. On the contrary, this job I’m working for now doesn’t even help pay enough to afford for my tuition.
- Have you tried the work-study here on campus?
- Unfortunately, I’m not eligible for it, according to FASFA.
- And that is?
- Guys, I know that we are aware of the minimum wage situation here in Texas, and it seems that our options to afford college are considerably low. However, there’s a solution.
- But isn’t that the same as scholarships offered by the school?
- No, because scholarships offered by the school make a profit on it as money is coming from the government. On the other hand, private scholarships are assessable and eligible for everyone and are easy to win. For example, some might require students to join a recognition dinner as they get rewarded the scholarship money.
- Private scholarships! It all consists of nonprofit companies and community organizations that are generous enough to donate money to help students pay for college.
