  • He will never no suffering!
  • I love it here Father!
  • He must not see the suffering of the world
  • A great king he shall be!
  • Oh My!!!
  • Siddhartha grew up wealthy and comfortable not knowing the suffering of life. His father always shielded him from the outside and what life really was. He was given everything he wished to have and was always treated like what he was, a prince.
  • I must find the true meaning
  • Siddhartha's father shielded him from everything unpleasant because a fourchune teller told him that if his son saw the suffering of the world, he would become a spiritual leader and if he never saw the suffering, he would become a great king. His father wished this kingship upon him and never let him see death or suffering of any kind.
  • The four people that Siddhartha saw were an old toothless man leaning on a stick, a man shrunken by disease, a dead man, and a homeless man that was content. He decided to search for that same content happiness as the homeless man.
  • I have found the truth!!!
  • Siddhartha began his search for the truth by cutting off his hair, switching his rich clothing for a simple robe, and studying with the Hindu gurus. The Hindus taught him meditation techniques before he joined the Ascetics. The Ascetics taught him self denial by wearing scratchy clothes and fasting. After many years, he realized that this was not the truth.
  • Siddhartha sat under a fig tree to meditate for 49 days and nights. In this time he became aware of the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. He freed himself and entered a world without suffering.
  • Siddhartha (now called Buddha) went back to teach others what he had learned. For 45 years, Buddha traveled India and trained some people to become the new teachers of the religion he had found. He died later at the age of 80.
