  • Prisoners rebelled against the guards. After being locked up in small cells by refusing to eat in the yard, ripping their inmate numbers, and insulting the guards.Guards responded by spraying fire extinguishers at prisoners. They removed mattresses and their clothing. The main instigators were sent to the hole.
  • Day 5 - Growing Concerns

  • To stop further acts of disobedience good prisoners were rewarded with clothes and food.Guards abused their power in order to humiliate the prisoners. One prisoner showed signs of a mental breakdown and was removed from the experiment.
  • Day 6 - The End
  • Seeing that the guards divide prisoners based on their behaviour, prisoners started to separate from each other. Rioters thought of other prisoners as "snitches" and other prisoners see rebels as a threat.Another prisoner is removed from the experiment showing signs of distress.
  • This day was for visits from friends & family. Guards made prisoners wait long periods of time to see their loved ones. Some parents were concerned about the well-being of their sons.Christina Maslach visited that night and was distressed by the sights she saw. She reported that Zimbardo had changed since the start of the experiment into someone she did not recognise or like.
  • Due to Maslach's report and concerns of the parents about the brutality, Zimbardo ended the experiment. In conclusion, prisoners quickly learned that they had no power in what happened to them and were quick to realize that there was a hierarchy and they were less important Human Beings.
