  • Nicholas Alexandrovich Romanov or Nicholas II was born May 6th (May 18th) 1868 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. His father Alexander III and his mother Maria Feodorovna. Nick was the oldest of 5 children.

  • Alexander and Maria were married in 1866. Alexander died November 1st, 1894 of nephritis. Maria died October 13st 1928 "passed away quietly."

  • At the age of 19, Nick was sent into the military by his father cause he wasn't ready to be czar. After doing his duty Nick then went to Japan at the age of 23. In japan with his friend George of Greece, he was almost killed by a Japanese officer. Then got a dragon tattoo.

  • Nicholas was a very bad czar and he sparked two revolutions. They were titled the overthrow of the czarist regime and the formation of the provisional government. The people had had enough of being mistreated. The people needed food land and rights and the czar wasn't given it to them so the czar's rule over the land ended after more than 300 years of reign.
  • Nicholas was a devoted member of the church and encouraged all the people to do the same. He renovated old churches and increased the number of churches from 10,000 to 57,000. He made it so the Holy synod (Russian Orthodox Church) gave it a lot of attention. He visited many churches and monasteries. He also encouraged children to be involved in religion he built parish schools (religious schools) totaling to around 37,000 schools.
  • Bolsheviks took Nicholas and his family to a house in Tolbolsik called the Ipatiev. Together they were shot and stabbed. They were cut up and soaked in acid and thrown into an old mineshaft. This act was ordered by a communist leader named Vladimir Lenin.
