Storyboard Text

  • I want to live my life and have fun while I'm young.
  • It breaks my heart to see you go, but I love you and want you to be happy.
  • Great party! Can't wait for the next one.
  • I'm running out of money with all these parties!
  • The Parable ofThe Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32)
  • I would rather be a servant in my father's house.
  • The pigs eat better than me. I want to go home!
  • A father had two sons and loved and cared for them well. His younger son asked for his inheritance because he wanted to leave the father's house so he could live a life of fun. The father was sad but he gave him the money. The son grabbed his belongings and money and left.
  • My son has returned! Today we will celebrate!
  • Will he forgive me?
  • The son lived a foolish and wasteful life, spending all his money on parties and friends. Soon, he had spent all of his inheritance, and all his friends left him. A famine hit the city, and he had no food, no money and nowhere to live. So, he left the city in search of a job.
  • You are always with me, and everything I have is yours. But, your younger brother was lost, and now is found!
  • I never left you, but you never threw me a party!
  • He came across a farmer and begged for a job. The farmer agreed to let him sleep in his barn if he looked after the pigs. The pigs had more to eat than him! He realised that his father's servants were much happier, and wondered if his father would take him back as a servant.
  • As the son was approaching the road home, he wondered if his father would take him back as a servant. His father was full of joy to see him. His father welcomed him with open arms and ordered the servants to give his son the finest robe and put a ring on his finger. He organised a party to celebrate his son's arrival.
  • The older brother was upset to see the celebration for his brother who had deserted them. He told his father, "I have always worked hard for you and never left you, but you did not give me a party." The father said to him, "Everything I have is for you. But your brother was lost, and now he is found. My son has returned to me." Jesus teaches us that God will always love us, even when we have sinned against him.
