- Siddhartha is moved by suffering in the world so he decides to endure poverty
- Is this what's really happening in this world?
- ANYTHING HELPS
- Poverty does not fulfill him, thus promoting the 'Middle Way,' existing between two extremes
- Gautama finds enlightenment meditating under a Bodhi tree, 6 years later
- Now known as the Buddha, he devotes the rest of his life teaching others how to achieve this state
