  • WE DEMAND WEAPONS!!
  • NEVER!!
  • In the year 1788, due to bad harvests, financial crisis and involvement in wars, Louis XVI called a meeting of the estate generals. The third estate was not happy with their taxes and voting practices. They wanted to vote by head count, allowing each individual to have a say. However, the first and second estate, smaller in size, wanted to vote as estates. This was the cause to the formation of the National assembly.
  • The national assembly saw themselves move to a nearby tennis court, fearful the king would dismiss them. They then formed the tennis court oath, pledging to never separate until a constitution was formed. Some like minded people from the first and second estate joined, upsetting the king. Eventually, the assembly completed the constitution, in 1971 setting up a limited monarchy and a new legislative assembly.
  • On July 14, 1789, rumours spread that the royal troops would occupy the capital, leading to the demand of gunpowder and weapons by the Parisians from a fortress, now used as a prison, called Bastille. The commander denied their demand, openly firing and killing numerous people. This event is now considered a "blow to tyranny" as they stood up for their beliefs, going against the king and is still celebrated today, being considered one of the mains symbolisers of the French Revolution..
