- When Jim arrives at the house she tries to distract him so that he does not realize that he cut his hair. But Jim noticed and was confused as to why she had done it.

- They both decide to show off their gifts and realize that neither of them will be able to use them because she cut her hair and he sold his watch.
- They both understood that the important thing is not the gifts but that they both have each other and that love is much more important than any gift.
