- EXPOSITION: Grendel was an evil man who tortured and terrorized mead hall every night. He has feasted on and devoured most of Hrothgars top men. One day a brave warrior by the name Beowulf heard what was happening in Hrothgars land and hall. He knew he needed to do something about it as he was the only one who could defeat Grendel. Beowulf set sail and was on his way to Hrothgars land to do what none of his men could. QUOTE In his far off home Beowulf, Higlacs follower, and the strongest of the geats--greater and stronger than anyone anywhere in this world, heard how grendel filled nights with horror and quickly commanded a boat fitted out, Proclaiming that he'd go to that famous king.Rising Action: Beowulf arrives at Hrothgars land, ready to defeat any evil that stands in his way. He is greeted with love, respect, and care. Everyone was delighted and relieved to finally have a hero worthy enough to take down Grendel and end his evil reign. Beowulf prepared to fight Grendel, and he was leaving it up to god to decide his fate. He took off all his armor, left all his weapons and set on his way to Mead hall for his big battle.
