  • The man asked Suraj for one of the apples, and the man asked where Suraj was going, and did he had a ticket, but Suraj replied No. The man asked where did he want to go, and Suraj replied that he wanted to go everywhere. The man asked more questions to Suraj about the trip.
  • The train was coming to a station, The engine whistled and the number of railway lines increased. The man came to the door and jumped to the ground. The man said that he'd better keep out of sight if he don't want to be caught, then the man disappeared into the jungle. Suraj hid in a wooden rack at the corner. Two men stepped in the compartment and started taking the crates towards the door, and now the compartment was empty.
  • Suraj waited until the two men had gone away before coming down from the rack. The train had started moving and Suraj felt a thrill of anticipation. He wondered about the thing he would do in China and he also wondered about what his parents would think about him. He thought that he would come back, giving his friend, Ranji an african-lion, or even a transistor radio! He looked outside, and saw that the train is moving to a station.
  • He looked out of the door and caught the sight of the board bearing the station's name. He was astonished and he almost fell out of the compartment. He was back at his home town, after travelling forty or fifty miles!
  • Suraj glowered angrily at everyone on the platform. He felt that the rest of the world played a trick on him. He made his way to the waiting room and slipped into the street through the back door, He did not want the ticket collector asking him awkward questions.
  • It has been a free ride, and with that, he comforted himself. Shrugging his shoulders, Suraj sauntered down to the bazar. Some day, he thought, he'd take a train that would really take him somewhere, and that he'd buy a ticket, just to make sure he reaches there. I'm going everywhere, he said fiercely and no one will stop me!
