- Ashoka was made the 3rd ruler of the Mauryan Empire in 265 B.C.E. He we the grandson of the founder of the empire.
- You shall be the 3rd ruler of this empire.
- After he was made ruler he conquered the last bit of India's other independent kingdoms.
- We will conquer all these kingdoms!
- He went to conquer the last kingdom in India. But he had to go through a hard war to conquered Kalinga.
- I shall conquer this kingdom!
- He had to fight to conquar Kalinga. They won the war but it led to hundred and thousands of Kilingans to be led to slavery and were massacred.

- He later then saw a Buddhist monk sitting under a tree meditating. He then learned that not having wars and having peace was better. So he decided to became a Buddhist and a better person to himslef and everyone else.
- He then made Buddhist principles and had them put on rocks and pillars everywhere throughout his empire. He had made a better and more peaceful empire.
- These shall be our new Buddhist principles for a better empire.
