- The founding of New Orleans is significant to the settlers because it was right on the Gulf of Mexico, so it was very ideal for trade; The Louisiana Purchase also included the Rocky Mountains, which is rich in natural resources, and, with new states came more political representation. However, there were already Indigenous people living in the land, and conflicts between the government and Natives arose, and the Natives began to be forced out. (Indian Removal in the Southeast)

- The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was signed on February 2nd, 1848, but the Mexican War spanned from 1848-1848
- This event is significant because the Native Americans were forced out of their land onto small reservations; and they had to walk thousands of miles in the dead winter months at gunpoint. The colonists thought they were being considerate, paying the tribes to move, and even some of the Cherokee tribe agreed to relocate; however, they didn’t represent all the tribes, and many were forced to move.

- The annexing of Texas is significant to the colonists because Texas could help them achieve Manifest Destiny, but they had to fight Mexico for the territory; however, the Mexicans did not go down without a fight and many young colonists died in their efforts fighting. Mexico’s perspective was completely different; they had originally allowed a select number of colonists to live in the land, but they didn’t follow any of Mexico’s guidelines, and then claimed the territory as their own; this felt like a betrayal of a deal to Mexico, and if they lost the vast territory, it would nearly cut their country’s size in half.
- American Indians and "Westward Expansion" - Buffalo
- A man is shooting the buffalo for entertainment, leaving buffalo practically extinct (1860-1890)
- The War with Mexico was over many of the Southwest states, as the colonists found gold when expanding westward, and they could finally achieve their goal of Manifest Destiny if they colonized the land. In Mexico’s eyes, the United States had already stolen Texas from them, and they couldn’t lose another territory.

- This event is significant to the Americans because the Oregon Territory had many natural resources, such as fish, timber, and animals, that could be valuable for trading. Still, there were already people living in the land and settlers forced them to sign treaties to movie on to small reservations where it was almost impossible to continue life uninterrupted.

- This event is significant because the Native population was already irritated at the white settlers for intruding on their land and forcing them out, and then they cam and shot the animal that kept them alive; the Native Americans used every part of the buffalo, so they were appalled seeing white settlers wasting the buffalo disrespectfully. The colonists had their own story though; the buffalo were a nuisance, especially as they were expanding the transcontinental railroad, and the buffalo were a cheap source of meat and entertainment.
