The state of Sikkim is endowed with rich faunal and floral diversity. Sikkim's forest are lush and green. The Himalayan black bear may be easily spotted. Floral diversity includes various trees like Oak, Rhododendrons, chestnuts etc. Many exotic shrubs have flourished well over the century, providing valuable shelter to small birds and animals. Sikkim is known for its diverse range of flora.

Sikkim also has diverse Fauna. The most commonly seen animal is the Himalayan squirrel. The manicured flowerbeds attract varieties of butterflies. Most common being Indian Red Admiral, Himalayan and common jesters. A sighting of blue dragonflies are a sign of clean and fresh water sources nearby. Some reptiles known to occur but seldom seen are Rat snakes and Himalayan pit Vipers. Conserving these should be added to the eco tourism of government of Sikkim, besides highlighting the role of the general populace in safeguarding Sikkim's heritage.
