- The year is 1917, so far millions of russians have been either killd or wounded russian people are angry and Tsar Nicholas the second for getting them into the war and several other things including Rasputin's power over the royal family
- The first revolution came about in Febuary 1917 in Petrograd,the then Capital of Russi. It started off as a demonstation about the lack of bread and were soon joined by workers. The army was called upon to stop the uprising. Several protesters were shot and killed
- Tsar Nicholas abdicated bringing an end to the Tsarist autocrasy. Grassroots community assemblies called 'Soviets',consisting mainly of working class, at first allowed the Provisional Government to rule, but insisted on the right to influence the government and control militias.
- Vladimir Lenin and the Bolsheviks were a faction of the Marxist Russian Social Democrative Labour Party and later became the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. They had a simple slogan: peace, bread, land.
- On November 6th and 7th 1917, Revolutionary Military Committee launched a coup d'etat against the Provisional Government. They stormmed the Winter Palace and arrested the leaders of the Provisional Govornment.
- This put the Bolsheviks in charge of Russia's government. However, liberal and monarchist groups, called the White Army, went to war against the Bolsheviks' Red Army as one. The series of battles that followed became known as the Russian Civil War.
