- Because Germany and Italy were in economic ruin they were in a very vulnerable position and only wanted a strong leader to help guide them out of economic crisis. This vulnerability led to the rise of political extremism and two Dictators named Hitler and Mussolini were ready to take advantage of this for political gain.

- Fascism will restore our economy and make Italy great.
- Nationalism becomes even stronger during this period of time in Europe. Hitler starts the Nazi party which uses Jewish people as a scapegoat for all of Germany's problem. Mussolini creates the fascist party which helped to intensify nationalism in Italy. The fascist party and Nazi party were both cults of personality since its members idolized these leaders and held the same beliefs.

- Maybe the government should step in instead of us waiting to get better.
- John Maynard Keynes created the economic system of Keynesianism in Britain and it argued that rather than letting the economy adjust back to full employment by itself, the government should step in through federal spending to correct the economy. In the 1930s Keynesianism became more widely adopted and led people to understand the Great Depression better.
