- Felix is a Jewish boy living in a Catholic orphanage for 3 years and 8 months to protect him from the war. Felix recieves a carrot in his soup and believes it was sent to him by his parents as a message to go find them. When he sees Nazi soldiers burn Jewish books he takes that as his opportunity to leave the orphanage and go save his parents bookshop and reunite with them.
- Felixx begins his journey by walking through the forest finding his way to the town where his mum and dad liv. He meets some Nazi soldiers on his way but Felix thinks that they do not mean any harm because he is very naive and doesn’t know much about war. He thinks the soldiers just want books.
- On his journey, he passed by a burning house and sees a young girl who seems to be alive although her two parents are dead. Felix decided to look after her. Her name was Zelda
- Felix and Zelda arrive at the town but Felix notices that it isn’t the same as it used to be . Soldiers are everywhere, shops are closed and someone is living in his house . Felix finds outha the soldiers are taking all the Jewish people away.
- A nice man named Barney take Felix and Zelda into his care in his underground cellar. Barney is Jewish but since he is a dentist her gets to stay alive. Felix meets other children in the cellar and he helps Barney with his job. Felix finds out that his parents and other Jewish people are being sent to to a concentration camp
- Barney, Felix and Zelda and the other children are captured by soldiers and brought to a carriage to be sent to a concentration camp. Barney and Zelda decide to jump out to save their life while Barney has to stay to look after the other children.
