  • Quartaring Act
  • Writs of Assistance
  • Sugar Act
  • The Quartering Act forced the colonists to house redocats in their homes and provide them food and supplies. The purpose of this was so the British could save money. The colonists(obviously) did not like this, and they protested angrily. They complained that they were violating the colonists rights.
  • Stamp Act
  • The Writs of Assistance made it so officials could search through someones home without telling them what they were searching. They were trying to find more illegal goods. Again, the colonists thought this was a violation of their rights.
  • Declaratory Act
  • The Sugar Act was a tax on foreign molasses and other sugars. The British did this so they could earn more mony for their own duties such as the French and Indian War.
  • Townshend Act
  • The Stamp Act taxed all newspapers, playing cards, etc. Basically anything that was published writing.
  • The Declaratory Act stated that Parliament could make laws binding the American colonies in all cases. The British said the Parliament had full control over the American colonies.
  • The Townshend Act stated that the British would tax only imports into the colonies. Obviously, the colonists were not happy whatsoever. The British again did this to help pay for their own war the colonists had nothing to do with.
