  • Ibn Battuta was born into a family of Muslim legal scholars on February 24, 1304, in Tangier, Morocco. He was raised by them and had a focus on education.
  • Ibn Battuta began his journey in 1325, at the age of 21 years old. He left his native land and began to travel to Haji which is located in Mecca.
  • Farewell!
  • Ibn traveled in many ways such as by foot, sea, camel and horse. He began his Journey in the middle east. He then traveled to Somali city. He traveled to other countries such as Kenya, Egypt, Turkey, Syria etc. During his Journey he took many breaks at different places such as Taghaza, Iwalatan and more.
  • Ibn Batutta has encounterd many people as well during his journey, such as the women of Iwalatan. They're very beautiful and were shown more respect than men. The men didn't show any jealousy either.
  • During his travels, Ibn had to face a lot of discomfort. During his travels, their was a time he had to go 10 nights without any water except for rare occasions. Ibn was able to pull survive those days and eventually get a supply of water from a nearby village.
  • Unfortunately, the inevitable happened. Ibn Battuta died 1368. We should remember Ibn as the greatest Muslim traveler and the author of one of the most famous travel books, the Rihlah (Travels).
