- After Maya's family suffers multiple financial issues, Maya's father comes across an international dating magazine and gets the idea to go to America.
- Falling Action
- In school, Nurzhan(Maya's little brother) gets in a fight with a boy named Ossie. Both Nurzhan and Ossie will receive a two day suspension, and the stress of being an immigrant starts to dawn on Maya's father. Maya manages to calm the situation down and makes her father less mad at Nurzhan. All of the stress causes Maya's father to turn down her request to go to the school dance, Maya is devastated.
- Resolution
- Nurzhan is overly thankful to Maya for easing the situation down, and in return Nurzhan manages to convince his parents to let Maya go to the school dance, Nurzhan will be there for her as Maya's chaperone.
- Maya's mom gives maya the golden bracelet. Maya appreciates this kind gesture and shows that after all that they have been through they are still there for each other.
- Maya attends the dance, and Daniel(a boy from Maya's class) is going to dance with her. Maya tells Nurzhan that he is her favorite chaperone.
