- In 1848, Phineas Gage was working in building a railroad. Phineas had a task to blast the solid rock into pieces small enough for his crew to dig loose with hand tools and haul away in ox carts. However some thing was wrong this time. The sand is not supposed to be pored down into the hole, then the black powder and fuse sit exposed at the bottom. Phineas turns his head, then the tampering iron blasts to his head

- Phineas meets Dr.Bigelow's lectures to convince the doctors that his case is not an exaggeration nor a fraud. Back in 1850, Dr.Bigelow tells the other doctors, taking all the circumstances into consideration, it any be doubted whether the present is not the most remarkable history of injury to the brain which has been recorded. In 1850, When Phineas comes to Boston Dr.Harlow feels he must keep the details of his paitent's personality problems confidential, but he does tell some of the truth to Dr.Nelson Sizer.
- In the winter of 1850, Phineas goes to Boston so the doctors there can see for themselves. Phineas arrived in Boston in January 1850.
- Dr. Harlow running a small practice in Woburn, Massachusetts, finds an address for Hannah Gage now in San Francisco . Dr. Harlow writes to Hannah. Mrs.Gage is happy to hear about the doctor who did so much for her son. Unfortunately, she has to report his death six years before (1860)
