Buck lived with Judge Miller. They lived in a big house. Buck was well taken care of. One day, Buck was kidnapped by the gardener and sold to dog traders. Buck had the feeling of contrition when he was kidnapped.
Buck's new owners took him to Alaska. He learned to become a sled dog. There were other dogs there. They helped him learn and adapt to this lifestyle.

A group of Huskies attacked the camp. The dogs chased after a rabbit in the woods. Spitz and Buck got into a fight, and Buck killed Spitz. He had no remorse.
Buck is now the leader of the pack. The dogs go with new leaders delivering mail. Dave gets too weak, so they have to kill him.
The new owner beats the dogs and overloads the sled. John Thornton saves Buck. They become inseparable..
Buck's love for Thornton becomes challenged by his desire for the wild. He begins to disappear in the woods for longer intervals of time. Buck even befriends a wolf. He returned home one day to find Thornton killed by Native Americans.
