- Christopher Columbus sailed across the Atlantic Ocean hoping to find better trade routes to Asia but he landed in the Bahamas
- 1519 Cortes wanted gold, glory, and to spread religion
- He landed where some Aztecs were, now called New Mexico.
- He overthrew the Native Americans and him and Spain became richer.
- Alfonso Alvarez de pineda, was the first person to map the coast of Texas.
- Cabeza de Vaca was returning from his journey, when he got stranded on Galveston island in 1528. They returned to Mexico in 1536 with the fabled story of the city of gold.
- In 1540 Coronado wanted to find the fabled city of gold, but ended up finding areas other explorers had not explored. The Spanish consider him a failure for not finding gold.
- In 1685 La salle the fresh explorer that arrived at Matagorda bay. He tried to get along with Indians but instead the indians attacked them while La salle went to get supplies.
