People had to give 1/10 of their tithe and had to follow a church hierarchy and the head of the church which is the pope. It was that important to them that the took about 200 years to build a cathedral.

- As you know in the middle ages, the Rome Empire was split into two. The first half was turned into Christanity who Constantine made the official religion of Rome. The other half continued to be the Byzantine Empire in Constantinople. In 1453 Ottoman Turks conquered the Byzantine empire whose religion was Islamic.
