  • FIESTA IN OUR TOWN
  • Hello, Ellen! I heard you're having your fiesta in your province. Is that correct?
  • That must be fantastic! By the way since we're on the subject, could you tell me more about the fiesta celebration here in the Philippines?
  • Oh, yeah. Since we're done with our exams, I decided. I wanna go home and spend my vacation with my family. I'm going back home there this coming week actually. I also do not want to miss the joyful celebration of our town's fiesta. I'm sure it will be a lot of fun.
  • FIESTA IN OUR TOWN
  • Fiesta is, in my opinion, are one of the most thrilling and cheerful celebrations in the Philippines. It is a part of our culture and custom since it is a celebration in honor of the town's patron saint to express our appreciation for all the favors we have received. It is a live tradition in the Philippines that must be preserved and passed down through the generations. It is not simply a simple date that we commemorate but rather than a tradition that has aided in the formation of our Filipino identity.
  • FIESTA IN OUR TOWN
  • Is that true? Wow thanks to you Ellen I've learned a lot about the Philippines fiesta celebration. However I am curious as to how this celebration works in your province?
  • Why don't you join me if you're curious? I'm sure you'll have a good time, and it's our vacation after all
  • Ellen invited her friend Celine to join her in her province, and the two of them participated in a variety of fiesta activities.
  • The celebration always begins with a Mass, as it does with any great event. They went to the mass and then watched the parade. The two friends were having a great time watching the parade and remarking on how lovely the performers' outfits were. There were groups of performers who were clearly going to perform a folk dance, as well as a group of dancers who wore long, colorful, flowing dresses and some who wore ethnic shirts and skirts. When you see the parade with all of the street performers together, it appears to be vibrant, bright, and joyous.
  • Ellen took Celine on a tour of the entire town's celebration and introduced her to a popular game.
  • Oh! Look, they're playing a game; could you tell me what it's called and what it is about?
  • Ah! They are playing the well-known palo sebo game, in which they must climb to the top of the pole while it is extremely greasy due to the oil they have applied. Also, due of the height, which is 5.77 meters or 5.8 meters, it appears to be very high.
  • They both walked to the town plaza after seeing the traditional game "palo sebo" to see additional performances put on by the contestants.
  • During the fiesta, you may also see a variety of performance such as folk dance, traditional dance, singing competitions, and many others. Oh, look, the singers and the next performance is here.
  • After this performance, let's head to the "perya," I'd like to ride a Ferris wheel!
