- Being aware of all these hazards is a necessary part of risk reduction. After all, knowledge is our best weapon against any disaster. Now that you are aware of the Earthquake hazards, it is time for us to tell you the ways in which we can save ourselves and our loved ones from the harmful effects and damages that an Earthquake can cause to us and our community.
- The occurrence of an Earthquake cannot be prevented, but the risks that it poses can be mitigated. Nowadays, seismic hazard maps were built to heighten the people's preparedness against the harmful effects of an Earthquake. These maps are useful since they show areas which are vulnerable to certain types of hazard and provide an evacuation plan for the people located within these areas.
- Aside from seismic hazard maps, every individual can contribute to risk reduction. This can be done with the right amount of preparedness including identifying and eliminating hazards at home, preparing survival kits, making an emergency plan for the family, and following the safety protocols being implemented by the local government.
