Ponyboy started to relax and started to wonder if running away was a good idea, he decided to walk to the park and back so things start to cool down.

Johnny then asked Ponyboy why he was so scared, Ponyboy replied "It was Darry. He hit me. I don't know what happened, but I

couldn't take him hollering at me and hitting me too." After Ponyboy replied Johnny said that he was lucky for having a supportive family (aka a gang that cared about him) while Johnny didn't have anyone to support him.

After Darry slapped Ponyboy, Ponyboy ran out the front door, and in the background, you could hear Darry screaming "Sorry Ponyboy" and "Come back Ponyboy please"

Darry got so fed up that he slapped Ponyboy across his face which shocked everyone in the room, even Darry.

Ponyboy had just arrived home, and Darry was very mad and started asking Ponyboy why he arrived at 3 in the morning, Soda tried standing up for Ponyboy but it just got Darry more mad
