- An idiom is a phrase where the words together have a meaning that is different from the dictionary definitions of the individual words.This is an example of an idiom because the man uses the phrase, "beating a dead horse", which means to continuously bring up a topic THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DROPPED.
- Analogy
- You tripped! You're dumber than a dodo!
- Allusions are an indirect and usually brief reference to a person, place, or event.This is an example of an allusion because the woman makes a brief reference to Hannibal Lecter, a character who is famously known for eating humans.
- Motivation
- Inferences are educated guesses made when you put together information from the text with what you already know.This is an example of an inference because the woman is inferring that the man gave up chasing her just because she can't see him.
- I can't see him anymore, he must have given up chasing me.
- An analogy compares two things that are different from each other but have some traits in common.This is an example of an analogy because the man is comparing the woman to a dodo bird, which is known for being a really dumb animal.
- Motivation is the reason behind a character's actions or behavior.This is an example of motivation because the man's motivation for chasing the woman is for her kidneys.
- Once I eat your kidneys, I will be able to sacrifice myself to the man and he'll take me to a better place.
