  • Sure. Ok so in 1765 it was an act of the British Parliament, in 1765 exacted revenue from the American Colonies by imposing a stamp duty on newspaper and legal commercial documents.

  • The King over in the mother country made that rule to punish colonist. Colonists need to pay tax for everything they buy.

  • The Sons of Liberty was an organization that was created in the Thirteen American Colonies. The secret society was formed to protect the rights of the colonists and to fight taxation by the British government. They played a major role in most colonies in battling the Stamp Act in 1765.
  • The Stamp Act was passed on March 22, 1765, leading to an uproar in the colonies over an issue that was to be a major cause of the Revolution: taxation without representation. Enacted in November 1765, the controversial act forced colonists to buy a British stamp for every official document they obtained. The stamp itself displayed an image of a Tudor rose framed by the word “America” and the French phrase Honi soit qui mal y pense–“Shame to him who thinks evil of it.”
  • The Quartering Act is a name given to a minimum of two Acts of British Parliament in the local governments of the American colonies to provide the British soldiers with any needed accommodations and housing. It also required colonists to provide food for any British soldiers in the area.
  • A series of measures introduced into the English Parliament by Chancellor of the Exchequer CharlesTownshend in 1767, the Townshend Acts imposed duties on glass, lead, paints, paper and tea imported into the colonies.
