  • Person to society: This is the scene where Garvey brings up the island he grew up on and that there wouldn't be anyone there that he can hurt. During this scene there is chatter around the room and it kind of just ends there but at the end of the meeting/scene the keeper asked Garvey to explore the plan and then on the next page we jump to Cole on the island.
  • I think it impacts the story because, it's the whole reason why Cole was sent there and it leads to him getting attacked by the spirit bear too
  • Person to person: It is after the circle justice and Cole calls his dad out on his drinking habits, and his dad tells him to shut his mouth and then this is where it is revealed to everyone that his father beats him, once Cole says Or what you'll beat me? His dad turns beet red and immediately denies it
  • Or you'll what? Beat me?
  • I think it's important because it gives insight on Cole's home life. Only two people in that room knew that Cole's dad beat him other than Cole, so I think it could've affected the way people thought of Cole and/or his family.
  • I've never beaten you and you know that
  • Person to Nature: This is when the bear is attacking Cole, right after her flips him, Cole was thinking about how his breath stinks, but he was surprised. Almost everyone had feared him and he wanted them to fear him so that they couldn't hurt him a I think readers are able to figure this out when he tries to threaten the bear into running away from him. Because that was what Cole was used to, everybody fearing him.
  • Although there isn't any said dialogue there are Cole's thoughts shared, and those aren't very helpful so i'm going off of the scene itself
