- What do they do well?
- When talking about Jude's running Bennett says, "She was the fastest girl ln the track team, and on another team in another town, she might have been captain...and after she won the gold medal at the state championship, no one congradulated her but Coach Weaver" (Bennett 89). Jude is the best runner in town but she didn't get reconized by her peers.
- In the beginning of chapter four Bennett wrote, "In the autumn of 1978, a dark girl blew into Los Angeles from a town that existed on no maps. She rode the Greyhound all the way from this unmapped place... A girl from nowhere and nothing..." (Bennett 81). Jude is coming from Mallard and going to Los Angeles to start her collegiate running career.
- Where have they been/Where are they going?
- Talking about Jude's new job Bennett said, "By the end of Jude's first two weeks at the newest usher at the Stardust Theater, she'd already learned two main things about Kennedy Sanders: she wanted to be a broadway star, and she carried herself like every aggrieved actress, a little prideful, a little wounded" (Bennett 235). Jude took upon herself to "stalk" Kennedy and even got a job wherre Kennedy usually performs. All so she could get closer to her.
