Fast Fashion Prototype

Usually, final products are shipped to the stores where they are sold when the manufacturing phase is completed.

By purchasing these products, I hope that consumers will become more aware of the environmental affects of fast fashion, and that the environment gets a chance to recover.



First, materials will be harvested from the places where they are grown. Flax and cork come from areas specially reserved for growth of these plants, while silk comes from silkworm farms where the silkworms are treated with proper care

I think that using materials such as silk, cork, and linen to make clothing will help solve the ongoing issue of the environmental affects of fast fashion. These materials are very eco-friendly and their environmental affects are minimal. Currently, the fast fashion industry is responsible for 1/3 of all plastic microfibers in the ocean and 10% of all carbon dioxide fumes. With my new prototype, these issues will be reduced drastically.

Silk is very good for both your skin and the environment. Not many chemicals are released during manufacturing and microfiber release is minimal. Cork is very sustainable, absorbs extreme amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and only requires water to be easily turned into fabric. Linen is very good for soil and absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. It has many good uses as a material. Like silk, linen and cork do not release many chemicals or microfibers while being manufactured.

Materials are then shipped to factories, where the spinning, yarn making, dyeing, weaving, cutting, stitching and final construction phases are completed. My prototype will be made without the use of chemical dyes and with minimal carbon dioxide fumes
