- We are introduced to our main character, the narrator. We are also introduced to our other character, the old man. The narrator is trying to prove to us that he is sain when he is clearly not.

- He is explaining the story of the old man's death. How he killed him. The reason being he had an "Evil Eye".
- Falling action
- He went to the old man's room every night at 12:00 am for 7 days, but he couldn't bring himself to kill him because the evil eye was not open. The eye was the only thing he hated about the man.
- Resolution
- On the 8th night, the creaking of the door woke the man, his eye was open. The deed had been done. He chopped up the body and hid him under the floorboard.

- The Narrator got so worked up and confessed all that he had done and was arrested.
